Job Title: EC Speech Pathologist

Reports To: ECC Coordinator

Primary Purpose:

Deliver speech services to 3-5 year old students  to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.  The Speech Therapist  completes a variety of tasks such as activities designed to develop pre-language and language skills, oral-motor control for speech production, vocalization, and use of assistive technology devices for communication; works with students who have identified speech and language disorders as well as other disabilities.

Qualifications:  

Education/Certification               

  1. Master’s Degree

  2. Appropriate certification/license

  3. Must complete required state credentialing requirements (Background check, Fingerprinting)

  4. Ability to complete records accurately and timely.

  1. Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis

  2. Have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students.

  3. Ability to cooperatively work with others.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

Part 1 - Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Create and follow daily therapy plans and has evidence

  2. Base speech therapy on evaluation results according to standards and program accordingly

  3. Follow ECH special education due process procedures

  4. Demonstrate knowledge of the content area and stay abreast of new trends and developments within the area.

  5. Work across multiple sites serving a range of disorders while ensuring educational relevance and providing culturally competent services.

  6. Responsible for creating therapy that is individualized as needed, uses adequate levels of positive reinforcement, includes language, and uses a variety of resources

  7. Develops relationships with students that: helps students develop positive self-concepts, manage behavior problems, accept responsibility for self, develop positive attitudes toward school and shows warmth and understanding with communicating with others.

  8. Administer appropriate assessments

  9. Update IEP’s and programming protocols quarterly.

  10. Follow Medicaid guidelines for eligibility and case notes for submission

  11. Maintain notes/data on students who receive services

  12. Provide training for staff specific to individual student needs

  13. Provide information, consultation and technical assistance to professionals, paraprofessionals and parents as required who are involved in the child’s services. 

  14. Maintains records pertinent to student performance and growth and completes student progress reports. 

  15. Notify immediately appropriate personnel of any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, or controlled substances.  

  16. Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.  

  17. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines

  18. NEVER leave a child unsupervised

  19. Performs related work, as required.

Working Conditions:

  1. Maintain emotional control under stress  

  2. Constant walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 50 to 100 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds may be required. 

  3. Other physical activities may be required.


Terms of Employment: 190 day contract
