Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for providing instructional support to students, ages 3-5, that reside in school districts served by Guy Fenter Education Service Cooperative, who meet the special education qualifications. Services are provided in accordance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act,1997 on behalf of the public schools.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
* Bachelor’s Degree with special education early childhood focus
* AR teaching license
* Must complete required state credentialing requirements (Background check, Fingerprinting)
Special Knowledge/Skills
* Knowledge of Special Education paperwork and writing individualized education plans
* Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis
* Have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students * Ability to maintain effective students management strategies
* Have basic computer skills
* Self-motivated
* Ability to complete records accurately and timely
Responsibilities and Duties:
Part 1 - Duties and Responsibilities
Assess the needs of individual students
Determine students strengths and weaknesses
Participate in referral, evaluation/programming, annual review and transition conferences
Develop, implement, and monitor the progress of IEP for children eligible to receive EC Special Education services utilizing due process procedures
Instruct individuals or small groups of students
Plan instructional strategies
Construct, select and maintain instructional materials
Maintains records pertinent to student performance, growth and complete student progress reports
Participate in staff professional development activities
Immediately notify appropriate personnel of any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, or controlled substances
Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school
Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines
Support children in their social/emotional, physical , and cognitive growth
Perform related work, as required

* Maintain emotional control under stress
* Constant walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 50 to 100 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40 pounds may be required.
* Other physical activities may be required.
Terms of Employment: 190 day contract
